Assign it to Claude. Review the pull request
AI coding agents can help teams move faster, but getting from a planned task to working code can still take a lot of manual effort. Developers often have to copy context out of Jira, turn requirements into prompts, set up branches, wait for results, and then bring the work back into their normal review process.
Claude Agent for Jira helps remove that handoff. Assign a work item to Claude from Jira, and the agent uses the work item context to get started. It writes code in a secure sandboxed session, then opens a draft pull request in GitHub for your team to review.
How it works
With Claude Agent for Jira, you can:
Assign a Jira work item to Claude Agent for Jira, just like you’d assign work to a teammate.
@mention Claude Agent for Jira in a work item comment when you want to add more instructions.
Give Claude the context it needs from the work item summary, description, comments, and connected repository.
Let Claude write code in a sandboxed, stateful coding session powered by Anthropic’s Claude Managed Agents.
Get a draft GitHub pull request from a service account you control, then review and merge it like any other contribution.
Availability
Claude Agent for Jira is now available for Jira Cloud customers on Standard, Premium, and Enterprise plans with Rovo enabled, across both Team-managed and Company-managed projects.
Before you install, you'll need:
Jira admin access to install Marketplace apps on your site
An Anthropic account with access to Claude Console and Claude Managed Agents, including permission to create API keys, agents, and environments. (See agent setup docs)
A GitHub organization and service account with a personal access token that can read repos, push branches, and open pull requests
How it works
Set up the app. Install Claude Agent for Jira from the Atlassian Marketplace, then connect your Anthropic API key and GitHub service account token.
Choose the work. Add a clear summary, description, acceptance criteria, and target repository to a Jira work item.
Assign or mention Claude. Pick Claude Agent for Jira from the Assignee dropdown, @mention it in a work item comment with extra instructions, or add Claude into a new or existing automation rule.
Follow along in Jira. Claude works in a secure sandbox, pushes a branch, opens a draft pull request in GitHub, and shares status updates back on the work item.
Review and merge. Your team stays in control of code review, verification, and final merging.
