Custom templates in Jira just got a whole lot more powerful. Admins can now package agentic workflows directly into a template — so when a team spins up a new space, the right agents are already wired into the workflow, ready to act. A development team, for example, can start from a template where a triage agent automatically analyzes incoming work, a Figma agent generates mocks the moment a ticket hits design, and a coding agent opens a pull request as soon as development kicks off. No setup. No configuration. Just a team that hits the ground running with AI already in the loop.

How it works

Start from a space where agents already work

When a team has a space that runs well with agents embedded in the workflow, an admin can save that space as a custom template. The template carries forward the workflow shape and agent setup, so new teams can create a space that is ready for agent-driven work instead of starting with a blank configuration.

Explain the agent-powered workflow before teams choose it

Admins can now add rich text descriptions, custom icons, and agent details directly on template cards — giving team leads the context they need to know whether a template fits before they commit to it.

Let team leads self-serve agent-ready spaces

Admins can allow selected users or groups, like development team leads, to create spaces from approved templates. Those leads can find the agentic template in the custom template gallery, review the details, and create a new team space with the agent-powered workflow already in place.

Give each team a copy they can adapt

For teams that need flexibility, admins can let new spaces receive their own copy of screens and configuration. That way teams can tailor the template to their needs without changing the source template or affecting other teams using the same agentic workflow pattern.
