Customize your Jira spaces

Jira is where teams spend a lot of their day. With theming, admins can now personalize Jira spaces with images, solid colors, and gradients, so every space feels more on-brand, easier to recognize, and more engaging to work in.

Personalize your space in a few clicks

As a project admin you can choose from curated photos, solid backgrounds, gradients, or even upload your own image (like a team photo or brand graphic) to bring your Jira space to life.

Color and imagery don’t just look good — they help with orientation. Distinct themes make it easier to see which space you’re in at a glance, especially if you manage or jump between multiple Jira spaces.

Get started

To set a theme, you’ll need to be a space admin.

1. Go to a board in a company‑managed space, or a supported view in a team‑managed space.

2. Hover on the space name in the sidebar.

3. Select More actions (⋯) next to the project name.

4. Select Set space background.

5. Choose your preferred theme (photo, color, gradient, or custom image).
