Put AI teammates to work, right inside Jira

Keeping work moving often means juggling repetitive tasks, long comment threads, and manual workflow steps, all while trying to stay aligned to your team’s plans and goals. With agents in Jira, now in open beta, you can bring AI teammates directly into your Jira spaces to help draft, summarize, and do work – without losing control or visibility. Assign work to agents, tag them in the comments, and embed them into workflows so your team can do more, faster.

How it works

Assign work to agents like any other teammate

You can now assign Jira work items directly to AI agents – including Rovo agents built by Atlassian and third‑party agents like the GitHub Copilot coding agent. From the assignee dropdown, choose the right agent for the job and let them handle anything from routine updates to specialized work like bug fixes, feature implementation, or opening pull requests for your review, while you stay focused on higher‑impact decisions.

Collaborate with agents in comments

Need a summary, a proposed fix, or help drafting content? @mention an agent in a comment, and they’ll respond inline using the full context of the work item. The entire conversation stays attached to the work, so your team has a clear record of what was suggested, what was accepted, and why – no more copy‑pasting into separate chat tools.

Automate workflows with embedded agents

Bring automation into the heart of your process by adding agents to workflow transitions. When work moves across your board, agents can run automatically. For example, preparing a changelog, drafting a customer update, kicking off a coding task, or completing more complex, multi‑step jobs – without manual invocation or context switching. Agents operate inside Jira’s existing permissions, configurations, and audit trails, so every action is trackable and governed.

Use the best agent for every job

Agents in Jira are designed to be open and flexible, so you can choose the right AI partner for each task. In addition to Rovo agents, Jira supports third‑party agents like the GitHub Copilot coding agent or Figma agent, which can take on deep, specialized work in their own domains. More partners are on the way, so your teams can mix and match capabilities – from coding and design to project operations – without changing how they work in Jira.
